One of 21 radar stations in the country that during the Cold War period played a key role in deterring the Soviet Union from military expansion. In 1976 Hack Green was converted into a vast underground complex containing its own generating plant, air conditioning and life support, nuclear fallout filter rooms, communications, emergency water supply and all the support services that would be required to enable the 135 civil servants and military personnel to survive a sustained nuclear attack and to oversee the survival of Cheshire and the government, post nuclear war.

waterwaysThe National Waterways Museum – Ellesmere Port
The Museum brings Britain´s canal history back to life. Explore the exhibitions in the historic dock complex and experience life aboard the collection of canal and river craft. With over 5,000 objects ranging from large boats to canal company buttons, explore the story of canals and the people who worked on them. Many of the objects are on display at the museum whilst the rest are kept in store in the reserve collection.

Stockley Farm
An organic farm on the Arley Estate which grows a variety of crops and vegetables. On arrival you are taken by tractor from the car park to the farm where there is a variety of animals including cows, pigs, goats and lambs. There is also a pets corner and at weekends Bird of Prey displays.
