Invent Your Own Country

It's a brand new week of activities starting with these...

It’s Monday and that means it’s time for another week of Activity Quest Daily challenges.

Let’s see what we have today…

1. Listen to the latest Fun Kids Science Weekly podcast

This is Dan’s science podcast.

Every week he’s talking to experts, busting science myths, and answering your questions!

This week’s episode is all about bioluminescence, which is when animals can glow in the dark.

Take a listen to the episode here and see what you can learn about animals that glow in the dark…

2. Watch today’s episode of Nancy & the Meerkats

Nancy & the Meerkats is a band made up of Nancy (a french bulldog) and the Meerkats (her musicians)!

We’re giving you an episode of their show every day this week so you can learn about the things you can and can’t do in the music industry.

So if you dream of being a pop singer or a guitar god, then pay attention.

In this episode, we find out how you come up with a name for your act that won’t get you in trouble!

3. Invent your own country

This is a fun one.

Have a think and make up your very own country!

There’s a lot to think about when making your own country. What’s the climate like? What’s the history? What does it look like?

You could even draw a map of your new country!

Once you’ve had a think about your country tell us about it in the box at the bottom of this page.

4. Give your country some laws

So now you have a feel for your country you need to think about what the rules and laws are there.

Maybe homework will be outlawed and bouncy castles will be compulsory in everybody’s house?

Think about what’s important to you and the people of your new country and then write all the laws down.

Don’t forget to tell us about some of them in the box at the bottom of this page.

5. Flags!

Every country has a flag, yours should be no different!

We want you to get out your paper and pens and get drawing your countries flag.

If you don’t know where to start then look at some other flags to get some inspiration.

A good place to start is by picking 2 or 3 of your favourite colours and starting from there. Most flags are actually just a few colours arranged in an interesting way.

And that’s it for this week, let’s recap…
