Hi guys! Marina Ventura here… your adventurer into the wonders of the world! I’m on a mission to explore one of the biggest adventures of the 21st century… the world of Artificial Intelligence and how it can benefit our future energy. Wanna come too? Excellent!
Today, we’re exploring how AI is boldly going where no human has gone before… into OUTER SPACE!
AI is already helping us study distant planets, moons and asteroids, protect astronauts, and even plan missions across the universe.
AI-powered robots – like the ExoMars and Perseverance rovers – are zooming around Mars scooping up soil and rock samples and taking selfies before sending critical data back to scientists here on Earth.

These robots can make decisions on their own, avoiding obstacles and adapting to tricky terrain. They even drive themselves across alien landscapes.
And it’s not just robots on Mars – AI can help astronauts on spaceships too. Intelligent robot companions could help with repairs, experiments and safety checks. They’d be like floating crewmates who never get tired or hungry, and as missions are set to get longer – as we look to explore more of our solar system and visit planets like Mars, these AI robots could help reduce the number of human crew needed. After all, humans use a lot of resources like water and food which is difficult and expensive to carry
Robots could also help stop the crew getting lonely. They could be programmed to know everything about your favourite sports, or be created with a fun personality…

AI can already help us predict SPACE WEATHER – like dangerous solar flares that could zap satellites or knock out communications. By studying data from the Sun, AI can analyse patterns in the activity to give early warnings to keep astronauts, spacecraft and satellites safe.
When we’re looking for new worlds, AI can help scientists search beyond our Solar System. For decades, we have used giant telescopes to collect mountains of data from distant galaxies – pictures, radio waves, light – all sorts of things. With the help of AI, we can sift through all that information and look for clues of planets that might have some of the characteristics to support life.
AI sifts through data at phenomenal speeds, intelligently spotting tiny patterns and learning from the previous data collected – making quick predictions that can reveal even more about these distant planets orbiting faraway stars!

One day, AI might help us find new habitable planets – or some alien friends!
AI can also help plan space missions – calculating the safest paths through space, saving fuel, and choosing the best launch times.
It’s like having the world’s smartest sat-nav… for SPACE! But there’s still much to invent. Which brings us to…
MARINA MISSION!
So now over to you! I want you to have a think about one way AI could help you invent a space gadget.
Maybe space snacks to match your mood, or alien-spotting robots? How about a rocket-powered hoover that sucks up space junk and keeps orbit tidy?
