Hi guys! Marina Ventura here… your adventurer into the wonders of the world! I’m on a mission to explore one of the biggest adventures of the 21st century… the world of Artificial Intelligence and how it can benefit our future energy. Wanna come too? Excellent!
Today, we’re diving into how AI is being used all around us, even in ways you might not expect.
AI is already used in so many areas… from healthcare and transportation to education and entertainment. In fact, you could say the future is AI!
You might not realise it but if you’ve ever used Google Maps to find your way somewhere, you’re using AI! It helps predict traffic, gives you alternative routes, and can even shows you how places change over time using Street View.
It learns from all the journeys people take including things like the quickest shortcuts and adjusts in real time if the shortcuts start getting sticky!

Thanks to AI, cars can spot road signals, pedestrians as well as objects that suddenly appear. And in the future, we might all be relaxing in the backseat while the car does the driving!
Safer and smarter roads sounds like a dream! But there’s a lot of challenges around this new tech – we are asking cars to make hundreds of decisions a minute, and something as simple as a dirty STOP sign that can’t be easily read could cause an accident – so the road set up will need to change to keep everyone safe.
In medicine, AI is helping doctors diagnose tricky illnesses, acting like a detective piecing together clues from scans and X-rays, as well as patient data. Being able to analyse thousands of pieces of data quickly means potentially quicker and more accurate diagnoses. Like did you know that AI led to a 45,000-fold acceleration in the scientific discovery of the three-dimensional structures of proteins – the functional building blocks of human cells.
Robots programmed with AI can even assist in surgery, whilst chatbots can help patients check symptoms and book appointments. It’s possible that future AI could look for patterns in the type of help different types of patients need and help schedule appointments intelligently, reducing the time it takes to be seen. No need to sit on hold forever!
In the world of finance, banks and credit card companies use AI to spot anything unusual, helping stop fraud and keep our money safe.
Retail shops use AI to manage stock and even fix equipment before it breaks. That way, the shelves are full, and things run smoothly.

And in education, AI can help teachers create personalised lessons and even suggest extra help when someone is stuck. Kind of like having your own mini teacher who knows exactly what you need! Although AI is great at coming up with answers, you’ll still need to study for your coursework and exams, because it’s unlikely that you’ll be allowed to use AI in the exam room when it really matters that you know your stuff!
AI might sound like it’s all about technical challenges, but it’s also changing the creative world, whether suggesting movies and TV shows you might like, designing fashion, or even creating pieces of art!
So many talents! But it’s important to remember that in checking out all the available data to make predictions, , AI is mimicking the creativity of real human artists and creators – it’s important that their contributions are used within the law – with permissions and credits given. After all, even children in school know copying isn’t allowed.
There are definitely challenges to be met to make sure these exciting changes are fair but there’s no doubt AI is making a big difference…
For people with disabilities… there’s smart prosthetic limbs that move naturally, speech assistants that turn thoughts into words, and tools that help people who are visually impaired navigate the world safely. It’s all about making life easier and more accessible for everyone.
MARINA MISSION!
So now over to you! I want you to have a think about one way AI could help you and your family in your everyday life. Maybe a robo dinosaur to help you reach the top shelves when you’re shopping! Or hover shoes to lift you up and over the traffic – no more waiting and it might keep the traffic flowing more freely!
