They were a proper power couple who were on the throne over three hundred years ago. We’ll be going inside in a sec, but stay here in Clock Court for now and we’ll start with a little 101.
Mary II and her husband, William III, who was sometimes called William of Orange, took to the throne in 1689 and lived here at Hampton Court.
No fighting though! It was called a Glorious Revolution but the funny thing – it wasn’t much of a revolution. The British government invited them to come over from the Netherlands and they ruled together instead of Mary’s dad, King James II…
