We all love Disney’s Descendants here at Fun Kids, so we’ve gone ahead and created an amazing make for you to try at home!
It’s a Descendants Desk Tidy and is perfect for organising your pens, pencils, and any other bits of stationary you might have laying around.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to make your very own Descendants Desk Tidy, complete with pictures!
To make your Descendants 2 Desk Tidy, you’ll need:
- Two empty kitchen rolls
- A small piece of cardboard
- Some mesh netting
- Two pieces of felt
- Some blue paint
- A marker pen
- A paintbrush
- A pair of scissors
- A hole-punch
- and a glue-gun, or some glue!
Step 1: Mark and cut your kitchen roll
Using a marker pen, mark half-way on one kitchen roll tube and divide the other into thirds.
Being very careful, and using a pair of scissors, cut the tube along the lines you’ve marked.
Step 2: Glue the tubes onto the piece of cardboard
If you don’t have a glue-gun, don’t worry! You could dip the tubes into PVA glue or tape them down.
Remember to glue the tubes the right way around, with the smaller ones at the front and the larger at the back.
Step 3: Paint the desk tidy!
Using the blue paint, give your tubes and the cardboard beneath a good coating and leave to dry.
It should now start looking like a proper desk-tidy!
Okay – now put that to one side because it’s time to make some tentacles!
We’ll stick these to the outside of the desk tidy to give it that true Descendants feel.
Step 4: Draw the tentacles!
Using your marker pen, draw some tentacles onto the pieces of felt.
Step 6: Cut them out!
Again, using a pair of scissors very carefully, cut the tentacles out.
Step 7: Hole-punch and glue!
Hole-punch the small dots we’ve just cut out and then, using the glue gun (or some PVA) attach the suckers to the tentacles!
Step 8: Add the tentacles!
Don’t pop that glue-gun away just yet! Now, stick the tentacles onto your desk tidy.
The easiest way to do this is to mark the desk tidy with a couple of small blobs of glue, and then stick the tentacles to it.
Doing it the other way around might just leave you a bit of a fluffy, sticky mess!
Looking great! But there’s one last step to go…
Step 9: Glue the netting to the desk tidy
Now, spread some glue over the cardboard base of the desk tidy.
Take your stylish mesh netting and stick it on. A couple of blobs of glue up the sides of the tubes might help hold the netting in place.
And you’re done! Good work!
Give yourself a big pat on the back because you’ve just completed your very own Descendants Desk Tidy!
