Barnes Children’s Literature Festival

The Barnes Children’s Literature Festival goes virtual from Tuesday 9th June – Sunday 14th June!

The Barnes Children’s Literature Festival will go ahead as a free virtual event from Tuesday 9th to Sunday 14th June 2020, with some of the biggest and best known names writing for children including the current Children’s Laureate Cressida Cowell, the superstar author illustrator of Charlie and Lola, Lauren Child, master storytellers, Frank Cottrell-Boyce and Chris Riddell and Gruffalo creator, Axel Scheffler.

Stanley Tucci will be reading The Tiger Who Came to Tea in celebration of the late Judith Kerr’s birthday on Sunday June 14th. The internationally bestselling author of the ‘Treehouse’ series, Andy Griffiths, will appear live from Australia.

They will be joined by a few famous faces including the Paralympian and television presenter, Ade Adepitan and historian Dr Lucy Worsley. The Harry Potter playwright, Jack Thorne, who also adapted Philip Pullman’s ‘His Dark Materials’ trilogy for the BBC, will make his first literature festival appearance.

Among the highlights will be a magical new storytelling show from Danyah Miller (Michael Morpurgo’s I Believe In Unicorns) starring ‘the strongest girl in the world’ Pippi Longstocking, celebrating the 75th anniversary of Swedish author Astrid Lindgren’s most famous creation.
