1. King Charles was born on 14th November 1948.

King Charles lll is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, who was the Duke of Edinburgh.

He was born on 14th November 1948, at Buckingham Palace in London.

Charles has always been the heir to the throne, which means he was next in line to be King.

In fact, he is the longest-serving heir in British history.

2. He became King on 8th September 2022.

Prince Charles became King on the 8th September 2022 following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen had reigned for a record-breaking 70 years and her passing marked the end of an era in Britain.

3. King Charles’ coronation took place on 6th May 2023.

A coronation is a special ceremony that is held when a king or queen is crowned.

During the ceremony, the new ruler is usually presented with a crown.

The ceremony is attended by important people and celebrated with music, dancing, and feasting.

4. King Charles is a keen pilot and diver!

King Charles spent time flying planes for the RAF and also flying helicopters for the Royal Navy.

His talents don’t stop there, he has also done lots of diving too!

King Charles is the first ever British monarch to have a qualification in diving.

5. He has founded lots of charities!

Raising money for charity is very important to Charles.

He has founded lots of charities over the years including the Prince’s Trust, the Prince’s Teaching Institute and the Princes Foundation for Children and the Arts.

6. He was the first member of the Royal Family to receive a degree from a British university.

Prince Charles graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Trinity College in Cambridge in 1970.

He went on to get a Masters of Arts degree in 1975.

During this time, he also completed a diploma in anthropology and archaeology.

7. King Charles reigns in 14 nations other than the UK.

It’s not only the United Kingdom that King Charles reigns over.

There are also 14 other nations including:

Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Solomon Islands and Tuvalu.

8. King Charles lll was previously known as the Prince of Wales!

Before Charles became King, he was known as the Prince of Wales.

He was 9 years old when his mother (Queen Elizabeth) gave him the Prince of Wales title.

The King can also speak some Welsh, although he isn’t fluent. Prince William has succeeded his father to become the new Prince of Wales.

During Charles’ studies, he learnt how to play three instruments!
