The games are coming thick and fast now! Do you like that?

Memphis says: “I prefer to have back-to-back games – it’s all about those 90 minutes to show everyone what you’ve done on the training ground. If I could choose, I’d prefer to play a game every single day!”

You’ve scored more free-kicks than Ronaldo since 2014. Any tips?

Memphis says: “If it’s close to the goal, I use the inside of my foot. When it’s further away, I try the ‘knuckleball’, which confuses the keeper! I scored two free-kicks in one game last season, which also built up my confidence. You have to believe!”

How important is training by yourself if you want to improve?

Memphis says: “Very important. If you keep repeating things such as shooting it becomes more natural, so if you train in something, you’re going to improve in it. In a game it could result in a goal, so I think it’s important – especially for a young guy like me!”

What kind of extra training do you like to do at Man. United?

Memphis says: “I do quick turns with Giggsy! Playing with the ball, outside feet, inside feet. It gives me extra motivation to get a good first touch out of my feet, which means you then have a chance to take a shot on goal!”

Do you borrow techniques from any other famous footy players?

Memphis says: “Everybody has their own kicking technique! Some people use a lot of power, some prefer placement, I have a bit of both so I can mix it up. I speak with our goalkeepers, Sergio Romero and David De Gea, and they say that if you get your effort on target, it’s harder for them to save the ball and keep it in their hands!”

Any advice for MOTD mag readers who want to get better?

Memphis says: “First of all, enjoy the game – that’s why you started playing in the first place! When it gets more serious, practice and put the hours into become better. Keep your confidence and believe in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself, you have to stop. The main things are to enjoy yourself and have confidence!”
